For those of you who are new to the studio, all machines and equipment, as well as most materials needed for the projects, are provided to students. The only additional expense is purchasing your garment project pattern and fabric. You will be informed as to what pattern and type of fabric will be needed for your class when you register. It is suggested that each student bring a notebook and pencil.
All classes include discussions and demonstrations on appropriate fabrics, stitching techniques, proper measurements and creative options to add personality to the garment. Pattern adjustments are made as needed for each student to insure a well fitting garment.
Advanced registration is required for all classes.
LEARN TO SEW WITH A PRO
Classes available for both adults and teens!
This hands-on, interactive program is designed to either build a solid foundation of sewing skills and confidence for beginners or build on that foundation for more experienced sewers. Beginners will be assigned projects appropriate to their skill levels after practicing some basics. Experienced sewers are encouraged to bring their own current apparel or home dec project or are welcomed to work on a class assigned project.
Each lesson will begin with a short informative demo on a single technique or topic and handouts reinforce each concept. Creativity is encouraged at every step as a way to personalize each garment.
Since we are all busy juggling a million different commitments, this class has been formatted to be as flexible as possible for students. With an ongoing registration process, students can join the class at any time and choose which 4 weeks work for their schedules, so the 4 weeks don’t have to be consecutive. If a class is missed the student will pick up where she left off. Students have the option of purchasing as many 4 week blocks of class time as they need.
Adults: Saturdays 10am - noon
Teens (13-18) Saturdays 1- 3 pm
Tuition: $275 for each 4 week block and includes all materials except garment projects
Bring a friend to register with you and get a 10% discount on your tuition!
PRIVATE LESSONS
If you can’t fit a regularly scheduled class into your calendar or have a specific skill you’d like to learn, a Private Lesson may be just what you need.
Private Lessons are scheduled at our mutual convenience either during the week, including evenings, or on weekends. Some private students just take one lesson, others take several, it’s entirely up to you.
There is a minimum of one hour for private lessons and after each first hour, we will go in 15 minute increments. You get to choose the topic, the pace and the amount of time and you have my undivided attention during your lesson.
First Hour: $55
15 Minute Increments: $13.75

Everybody loves a field trip and so do I! Several day trips are planned for New York City and all that FABRIC!! We will meet at the bus pick up location, enjoy a relaxed drive to NYC, be dropped off in the heart of Manhattan, see the sights as we walk to the Garment District and roam thru wonderful and delightful shops full of every fabric imaginable. Then there's trims, beads and more! There will be an opportunity for some museum exhibits during the day to give inspiration. For those who can't survive just on eye candy in the shops, lunch will be on your own.

Part of the fun of knitting and crocheting is chatting with friends whose hands are also busy going "yo." So with that in mind, the Studio is starting a knitting circle! No instructor, just everyone helping everyone else in a social setting.
If you already know the basics, bring your current project and learn new stitches or perfect the old ones.

If you've never held a needle or hook before, plan to purchase a "beginner's kit" for $8 and learn to cast on. I have several books, tons of patterns, yarn catalogs and more at the Studio.
The Knitting Circle will meet at the Studio on the Second Sunday of the month from 1 to 3 pm beginning in November (2007)
Fee: $5/meeting to cover the lights and coffee
As the group develops we will select projects to work on, such as the felted hats that were so popular last year or working with some of the novelty yarns that look and feel so yummy.
This is a one day workshop where students will learn the basics of silk painting and 4 techniques used by the pros. After mastering the basics, each student will paint a silk scarf using the techniques learned in the morning. Then we will learn how to set the dyes. Each student will leave with a completed scarf to give or keep.
Tuition: $100.00 includes all materials Advanced Registration Required (bring a friend and get $10 off your tuition!)

KID'S CORNER
CLASSES FOR TEENS
Advanced registration required
Minimum enrollment 3 students, maximum 6 students
Everyone has scheduling conflicts so the “Block of 4” class option is available for kids and teens, too. With a Block of 4 card, your child has three months to receive 8 hours of instruction time. All of the equipment and materials your child needs will be provided although I do suggest they bring a notebook and pencil.
I have found the ‘one room school-house” format works well so that anyone can join the class at any time at any skill level. Every student joining the class will learn the basics of operating a sewing machine, how to “read” a pattern, how to cut and transfer pattern markings and construct the item. Creativity will be encouraged at every step.
The class meets every Saturday** from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Tuition: $275 for “Block of 4” includes all materials except garment project
Bring a friend to register with you and get 10% off your tuition!
