This is one of the 12 female Madrigal costumes created for Marriotts Ridge High School. The midnight blue velvet is trimmed in silver and crystals. Notice the triangles accenting the split in the over-skirt, I love that detail! I quickly realized that the hoops of the farthingales would show thru the 10mm silk of the chemises, so each farthingale was faced in flannel to minimize that.
My two assistants and I developed the pattern pieces and then tweaked each one so no two dresses look alike. I wasn't able to finish the teardrop caps in time for the first performance, but the girls are wearing them now.
